European countries are not catering for excess solar capacity
O+L Nexentury GmbH announced at the end of March that a 15MW floating solar photovoltaic plant on the Philippsee gravel lake in Western Germany. The Munich based solar developer will deploy 27,160 solar modules on the floating solar facility that will cover 15% of the lake.
The solar park is estimated to generate 16GwH of green electricity per year and will begin construction in the first quarter of 2024. The power generated expected to power the onsite gravel plant.
Excess power will be fed back into Germany’s power grid and help improve the security of the countries power grid.
Key stakeholders, alongside O+L Nexentury GmbH, in the project include:
- Philipp & Co.
- Ohlthaver & List’s European arm O&L Europe SE.
- The German federal state of Baden-Wuerttemberg.
- DKB (as the financing bank).
