Al Masaood Energy, a UAE-based oil and gas contractor, has partnered with TotalEnergies to build a 2.5 MW solar power project in Abu Dhabi.

During the 25-year partnership, TotalEnergies will build 4,200 PV panels for the project, capable of producing 4.2 GWh of electricity, while saving 1,800 tons of CO2, per annum.

The project aligns with the Emirate’s environmental and decarbonisation goals, while also covering around 30% of Al Masaood’s predicted energy consumption.

On the news, Dr. Ahmad El Tannir, General Manager, Al Masaood Energy, comments: “In line with our vision to contribute to the country’s decarbonisation efforts, we are delighted to partner with TotalEnergies… to meet our mid and long-term industrial power needs with a sustainable footprint.”

2023’s COP28, which was held in the UAE, set a target of reaching 50% decarbonisation by 2030 – highlighting the need for government and private sector collaboration.

In this vein, Hamady SY, Managing Director of TotalEnergies Renewables Distributed Generation Middle East and Africa, adds:

“Partnerships like this are essential for achieving sustainable growth and contributing to the UAE’s net zero goals.”
