Latin American company Atlas Renewable Energy has signed a new power purchase agreement (PPA) to supply solar energy to US-based chemical company Dow Inc from the 358-MW Casablanca Solar Energy Complex in Brazil.
Through the long-term deal, Dow will receive a steady supply of solar power for its operations in Bahia state.
According to Atlas, this agreement will help the company avoid around 37,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions annually.
This is not Dow’s first partnership with Atlas in Brazil. In 2020, the companies signed a 15-year PPA linked to the 187-MW Jacaranda solar photovoltaic (PV) project, also located in Bahia.
Since the start of 2025, Dow’s nine sites in Brazil have been fully powered by renewable energy.
Atlas highlighted that the agreement aligns with Dow’s broader climate goals, which include cutting its annual net carbon emissions by 5 million metric tonnes by 2030 and reaching net zero by 2050.
