Press Release
European Energy has successfully divested its largest utility-scale solar project to date.
This is the second major divestment in the USA since European Energy entered the market in 2021, bringing the total capacity divested to 800 MW.
The company’s first US project, Project Yellow Viking in Texas, was divested in 2023. This latest divestment reinforces European Energy’s strategy of developing, delivering, and recycling capital into new renewable energy projects to accelerate the green transition.
“Our strategy is to develop a full spectrum of renewable energy solutions, and this divestiture marks a pivotal step in advancing our mission,” said Lorena Ciciriello, CEO of EE North America.
When fully operational, the solar park is expected to produce approximately 1,389 GWh of electricity annually, equivalent to the annual consumption of 128,000 US households.
“Divesting this solar project demonstrates the strength of European Energy’s development capabilities,” said Thorvald Spanggaard, EVP and Head of Project Development at European Energy.
“We remain committed to developing renewable energy projects in the USA that drive local growth and create jobs.”
European Energy established its presence in the USA in 2021 and has since expanded operations. Its office is located near Austin, Texas, and is employing a growing team dedicated to driving the transition to renewable energy.
