Large outdoor car parks in France have 18 months to install PV canopies, provided they have a surface area of 10,000 sqm or above.

Should they also provide a “proof of commitment” contract and deposit by 31 December 2024, they have until 1January 2028 to install the PV canopies.

The can parks subject to the terms also need to show a purchase order of PV panels by 31 December 2025, however they must meet specific criteria.

  • The modules must be made by a company that does not outsource most of its production to a third country representing over half of European imports.
  • Energy efficiency yield or value greater than 22%.
  • Annual decrease in energy efficiency of under 0.4% after a full year.
  • Panels to have a simplified carbon assessment value under 740kgCO2eq/kWc.
  • 12-year product warranty including manufacturing defects.
  • 30-year performance guarantee wherein the panel must generate at least or more than 80% its nominal capacity.

The 18-month extension is a supplement to Article 23 of the law introduced on 23 October 2023.
