Interview with Alex Avila, Business Development Manager of Power Electronics, Canadian Solar

“Our goal is to be a one-stop shop for our distributors and installers, offering a complete ecosystem of products while providing local support.”

Xtra: What is Canadian Solar’s role in the industry?

Alex: Canadian Solar is a high-quality and reliable manufacturer, founded in 2001. We have been in the market for 23 years, focusing on delivering premium products at a competitive price.

Our goal is to be a one-stop shop for our distributors and installers, offering a complete ecosystem of products while providing local support.

Xtra: How has Canadian Solar been evolving recently?

Alex: Canadian Solar is transitioning from being solely a solar module manufacturer to a complete solution provider.

We aim to expand our offerings beyond a comprehensive portfolio of modules to include inverters, battery storage, and solutions for residential, commercial, industrial, and utility-scale sectors.

Xtra: What unique features of Canadian Solar are being showcased at Solar & Storage Live?

Alex: Canadian Solar is one of the top five module manufacturers, with 23 years of experience. This is crucial because solar products are increasingly seen as financial investments rather than consumer goods.

What we offer our customers is the ability to save on energy costs. To ensure a return on investment, a strong warranty backing the manufacturer is essential.

A 25-year warranty means little if a company was founded yesterday, right? With over two decades of experience, Canadian Solar stands out in this regard.

Additionally, we have a dedicated local team, with more than 50 employees in Spain, providing close support to our customers.

Xtra: Can you talk about Canadian Solar’s portfolio in the Spanish market?

Alex: At this event, we’re showcasing new modules like the TopHiKu6, a top-con module designed for the residential market. The 48TD model also comes in an all-black version, which is highly sought after for residential use.

We also have new models coming soon, like the 66TB – a bifacial module with power output of up to 630W.

On the inverter side, we offer a full range from 15kW three-phase 400V up to 350kW, covering both C&I (commercial and industrial) and utility-scale applications.

For battery storage, we are presenting the EP Cube, a single-phase residential solution that integrates an inverter and battery management system in an all-in-one design. We offer capacities from 6.6kWh to 20kWh.

Beyond residential storage, we also provide commercial and industrial solutions, such as the KuBank (100kW, 250kWh) and the SolBank, a utility-scale, container-sized battery with a 5MWh capacity.

Xtra: What are the benefits of attending Solar & Storage Live?

Alex: Solar & Storage Live allows us to focus on the storage sector, as the event strongly emphasises energy storage and power electronics.

It’s also a great opportunity to connect with local partners and customers. Additionally, having the chance to present in Spanish here in Barcelona is always a pleasure.
