Lily D’Ambrosio, Minister for Energy and Resources for Victoria, Australia, has announced the launch of the H2PowerBox: a trailer-mounted power system powered by renewable sources.
Developed as a collaborative effort between Clayton Hydrogen Technology Cluster (Clayton H2); GreenRen Power; and Deloitte Emissions Solutions, also including government funding of AUD $100,000, H2PowerBox aims to establish a network of hydrogen clusters across Victoria.
The power system is designed to provide disaster relief and support remote communities independently of conventional water sources – instead of relying on mobile diesel generators.
It has been equipped with highly efficient solar panels, an advanced electrolyser for hydrogen extraction from water, and a fuel cell for power provision. The project will provide an accessible power supply without the impact of diesel, such as emissions, cost fluctuations, supply constraints, and high maintenance.
Manufacturing of the H2PowerBox’s trailer and assembly will be undertaken by Decon Corporation in Melbourne, with financial support of $96,830 from the government’s New
The $20m New Energy Jobs Fund backs Victoria’s initiatives that create ongoing sustainable employment, promote renewable energy adoption, cut emissions, foster innovation in new energy technologies, and increase long-term market confidence.
