Gstar, a Singapore-based solar equipment manufacturer, plans to establish a 2GW solar module factory in the UAE, signalling its expansion into the Middle East.
The company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a consortium led by the UAE’s Siraj Group, a diversified investment firm.
This new manufacturing facility will focus on producing advanced N-type solar modules, according to Gstar’s recent announcement.
Gstar will partner with Siraj Group, Galaxico, and Stark Consulting, to drive the project forward, with construction expected to commence in November.
The decision to expand into the UAE aligns with the country’s strong solar energy potential and ambitious renewable energy targets.
Market research from Infolink indicates that the photovoltaic sector in the Middle East is poised for steady growth, with demand projected to reach between 29-35 GW by 2027.
Gstar, established in 2019, specialises in photovoltaic (PV) materials and system services. In 2022, the company expanded its global presence by opening a fully automated solar module production facility in Thailand.
