Trina Storage, the energy storage arm of global solar PV company Trina Solar, has signed a letter of intent (LOI) to supply 1,500MWh of battery energy storage system (BESS) technology to developer Pacific Green.
Trina Storage is to supply Pacific Green with equipment that includes its latest BESS solution, Elementa 2, power conversion systems (PCS), and energy management systems (EMS).
Pacific Green has projects in development in Europe and Australia. Its debut grid-scale project — a 100MW/100MWh project in the UK — went online in December last year. Chinese manufacturer Gotion High-Tech, was the BESS supplier to that project.
In Australia, the company has targeted 1GW/2.5GWh of projects, resulting in a land deal for a planned 500MW/1,000MWh project in South Australia in November.
Trina Storage did not specify a location for the projects, instead stating that they would be in: “grid-scale energy parks… across multiple jurisdictions.”
Trina’s Elementa product held its global launch at Energy Storage Summit EU 2024, in London UK. At the show, Trina Solar executive president, Helena Li, explained that the UK is their largest energy storage market outside of China – as of more than 4GWh+ of Elementa systems shipped so far the UK accounts for over a gigawatt hour.
