Zendure, an international solar energy company, will be the UNESCO World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development (WED) 2025 official partner.

The WED initiative, launched at UNESCO’s Paris HQ, aims to demonstrate the engineering sector’s key role in achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

WED for Sustainable Development takes place annually on 4 March as a UNESCO official international day.

Zendure’s statement announcing the news explains that UNESCO runs WED with the World Federation for Engineering Organisations (WFEO), both of which aim to promote engineering’s ability to address global climate challenges.

Overall, the awareness day itself is designed to highlight engineers’ achievements and acknowledge their pivotal role in building a sustainable future.

The partnership

For solar company Zendure, the partnership highlights the company’s commitment to providing accessible clean energy – particularly within Europe.

“We are deeply honored to partner with UNESCO and the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) for World Engineering Day,” said Bryan Liu, CEO and founder of Zendure – speaking from experience growing up in a rural Chinese village without electricity.

“This partnership provides a powerful platform to amplify our message and accelerate the global adoption of household clean energy. Every individual’s energy choices directly impact the collective well-being of our planet. We’re committed to empowering people to make those choices sustainable ones.”

In 2024, Zendure’s userbase generated over 13.7m kWh of clean energy, which reduced coal consumption by around 4,386 tonnes. Overall, the company’s European cohort saved €4-6m.
