President Shavkat Mirziyoyev revealed Uzbekistan’s goal to achieve more than 20GW of renewable energy capacity by the decade’s close, aiming for renewables to constitute 40% of the energy mix.
At the third Tashkent International Investment Forum in Uzbekistan, an international renewable energy leader, President Mirziyoyev highlighted the country’s launch of 1.4GW large wind and solar farms in 2023 and the beginning of work on 28 additional projects.
Existing collaborations with entities like Masdar, Gezhouba, China Energy were additionally acknowledged, alongside a green hydrogen initiative with ACWA Power, noting:
“The most notable aspect is that these significant projects are being implemented based on public-private partnership and directly through foreign investments.”
At the Forum, President Mirziyoyev announced that the audience could expect a presentation from the government on joint hydroelectric projects in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
