Boviet Solar, based in Vietnam, is set to establish its first North American solar panel manufacturing plant in North Carolina, investing $294m and generating 908 new jobs.

Specialising in solar panels and photovoltaic cells, Boviet Solar undertakes solar projects for commercial, industrial, and residential clients across the U.S.

This expansion will bolster the company’s global capacity through a planned 1 million-square-foot advanced manufacturing facility.

Jimmy Xie, Boviet Solar’s general manager, comments:

“We are committed to expanding solar as a widely used renewable energy source in the U.S. and delivering locally made, top-performing PV modules to accelerate the advent of the global renewable revolution.”

Boviet Solar, a subsidiary of the Chinese Boway Group, will repurpose the former DENSO Manufacturing site in the Indigreen Corporate Park. DENSO had downsized in 2022, eliminating 475 jobs.

The second-phase factory construction will cover 34 acres, marking Boviet’s first manufacturing plant outside Vietnam.

The new roles span from engineers to administrative staff, with salaries surpassing Pitt County’s average of $50,937 per annum.

The project secured an $8.3m Job Development Investment Grant from the state, spread over 12 years, contingent on job creation and investment targets.

State officials anticipate a 47% return on investment, indicating that for every dollar invested by the state, $1.47 is projected in state revenue over time.
