Econergy Renewable Energy, a renewable energy developer and Independent Power Producer (IPP), won in Romania’s recent Contracts for Difference (CfD) auction with its Parau 2 solar project.
The Parau 2 solar plant, located in the Brașov region, will have a total capacity of 310 MW (DC), with an awarded CfD capacity of 125 MW AC (150 MW DC).
Econergy achieved a 15-year index-linked contract for €49.4/MWh, ensuring long-term financial stability. The project is expected to generate cumulative revenues of approximately €447m during the CfD period.
Currently, in the licensing phase, construction of the Parau 2 project is anticipated to begin in 2025, with grid connection planned for 2027.
Econergy has established a strong presence in Romania, reflecting its commitment to advancing renewable energy as part of the nation’s net-zero transition.
The company is actively expanding its portfolio across Europe, leveraging technical expertise to support the clean energy shift.
With construction progressing, the Parau 2 project is poised to enhance Romania’s solar capacity and contribute to reducing carbon emissions.
Looking ahead, Econergy intends to participate in Romania’s 2025 CfD auction, where 3,500 MW of capacity is expected to be allocated.
The success of Parau 2 reinforces Econergy’s leadership in delivering large-scale renewable energy projects aligned with European energy goals and addressing environmental and economic priorities.
