Rezolv Energy, backed by Actis, has selected CMC Europe, Solarpro, and Green Solar Energy to build the 229MW St George solar park in Silistra Municipality, northeastern Bulgaria.
Construction is set to begin soon, with the plant expected to be operational next year. CMC Europe and Solarpro will jointly serve as the project’s engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) partners.
The solar park will connect to the main grid through a 110kV substation and two independent connection lines, totaling around 6km. Green Solar Energy, a Bulgarian company, will handle the high-voltage work.
The park will be constructed on the site of the former Silistra airport, a decommissioned airfield spanning 165 hectares, and will feature nearly 400,000 solar panels. The energy produced will be sold to commercial and industrial customers via long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs).
The first PPA for St George is expected to be announced soon and will mark one of Bulgaria’s first such agreements. This follows five pioneering PPAs Rezolv recently secured for its 461MW Vifor wind farm in Romania.
The project will also be financed through loan facilities provided by a consortium of international and regional lenders. During construction, up to 200 workers will be hired, with a focus on local employment and training programs.
