European Energy has completed its first solar project in Australia with the commissioning of the 58MW Mokoan solar park.
The solar park will be in the state of Victoria, with construction commencing in the first half of 2024.
The facility is expected to generate approximately 113 GWh of electricity annually, providing power for more than 18,000 Australian households and reducing carbon emissions by over 85,000 tonnes each year.
To support sustainable and responsible development on Aboriginal land, European Energy signed an agreement in 2024 with the First Nations Bailai, Gurang, Gooreng Gooreng, Taribelang Bunda People Development Corporation (FNBGGGTB Development Corporation).

Catriona McLeod, vice president and head of Australia at European Energy, stated: “We are thrilled to have completed our first project in Australia just two years after establishing our office in the country.
“This is a tremendous achievement for our entire Australian team, and I am proud that we have demonstrated our ability to execute projects like this efficiently and effectively.”
Australia is in the midst of a significant energy transition, with the government aiming to add 33,000 GWh of renewable electricity between 2020 and 2030. This shift marks a move away from the country’s traditional reliance on fossil fuels.
