Italy has made another big push toward a greener future, with its latest renewables auction allocating 322.2 MW to solar power projects. This 15th national auction awarded a total of 410.6 MW for renewable energy, focusing heavily on solar installations, which will be spread across 57 sites throughout the country.

The Italian energy agency, Gestore dei Servizi Energetici (GSE), is driving these initiatives to increase the country’s renewable energy capacity. Alongside solar, this auction includes an additional 88.4 MW of wind energy. Solar, however, remains the star of Italy’s renewable energy plan.

Back in June, Italy’s 14th auction round saw a smaller allocation of 243.3 MW for renewable projects, so this latest effort marks a clear ramp-up in Italy’s commitment to clean energy.

With these renewable energy efforts, Italy is steadily building a more sustainable future. For those interested in the future of solar in Italy discover , the upcoming “Solar & Storage Live Italia” show.
