US renewables developer and operator D.E. Shaw Renewable Investments (DESRI) has finalised agreements with Meta Platforms Inc. to provide 400 MW of solar power from projects in Missouri and Texas.
The power purchase agreements (PPAs) are linked to two photovoltaic (PV) projects that are set to be completed by the end of 2027.
The projects include a 250-MW facility in Missouri and a 150-MW site in Texas, which DESRI acquired in 2022 from Acadian Renewable Energy LLC, a venture between SunChase Power LLC and Eolian.
Both are located within the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) region.
These agreements support Meta’s commitment to match its energy consumption with 100% clean energy. The company already sources power from DESRI solar installations in Utah, Virginia, and Arkansas.
“Our renewable energy partnership with Meta has expanded to span five states, encompassing more than 1,200 MWac of clean energy nationwide,” said Hy Martin, DESRI’s Chief Development Officer.
“These projects will support local rural economies and are part of DESRI’s long-term strategy of developing, owning, and operating clean energy generation sources in close proximity to new load growth, particularly with our corporate data centre customers in MISO and beyond.”
In November, Meta signed Environmental Attribute Purchase Agreements with ENGIE, wherein ENGIE will supply Meta’s Texas data centre with renewable energy.
