Octopus Energy’s generation division has announced additional investments in U.S. solar power as part of its broader $2b plan to boost renewable energy across the country.

This new move follows the company’s first U.S. renewables investment just three months ago when it acquired solar farms in Ohio and Pennsylvania.

The latest investments involve partnerships with two solar developers: Circal and Zestec. Octopus is supporting Circal’s expansion of solar farm projects, which include several gigawatts of planned developments in the U.S. and Ireland.

Circal aims to create 600 MW of solar farms in the U.S. within the next five years, primarily in Texas. These projects will generate enough energy to power 40,000 homes.

UK-based Zestec, also backed by Octopus, is setting up operations in the U.S. to install solar panels on commercial rooftops and land.

Zestec is focusing on businesses like warehouses and logistics centres, offering solar panel installations at no cost to the businesses, with a primary focus on Texas and the East Coast.

These investments were made through the Octopus Energy Development Partnership (OEDP) and Sky funds managed by Octopus. They add to the company’s global commitment to support both rooftop solar installations and large-scale renewable energy projects.
