Polish renewable energy developer R Power has completed the development of three new solar farms in Portugal, with a combined capacity of 22 MW.

The facilities, located in Tremes, Alhais, and Elvas, are now connected to Portugal’s power grid.

R Power has additional solar projects in the pipeline for Portugal, which are expected to be commissioned later this year. Once operational, these projects will expand the company’s solar portfolio in the country to roughly 35 MW.

The solar farm in Tremes, located in the Santarém region, features fixed mounting structures.

In contrast, the Alhais site in the Pombal region and the Elvas site in Alentejo utilise tracking systems designed to optimise sunlight capture throughout the day.

Across the three sites, more than 40,000 solar panels have been installed, covering a total area of 45 hectares.

These projects align with R Power’s broader European expansion strategy, which includes the development of solar and wind energy initiatives in countries such as Poland, Spain, Italy, Romania, and Germany.

Nomad Electric Services constructed the three solar farms and will manage their operations and maintenance.
