It was a pleasure to interview Rt Hon Graham Stuart, Minister of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, at Solar and Storage Live in Birmingham!

Solar&StorageXtra is the new publishing part of the Solar and Storage Live event series where we will be interviewing our esteemed speakers, exhibitors, sponsors and attendees to get their live reactions to the event and the important discussions within the industry.

Rt Hon Graham Stuart joined Solar&StorageXtra to discuss the future of UK solar, the factors that have boosted UK solar, and the importance of the UK’s energy security.

What the Rt Hon Graham Stuart wanted to make clear was that Solar remains one of the cheapest forms of electricity generation available. Once grid connections are developed and infrastructure has been improved, renewable generation can provide a huge economic opportunity to the UK. A new, low-cost energy system will be developed to ensure no-one will be left behind.

An increase amount of Solar, and other renewable generation, not only makes our system for environmentally friendly but also improves our energy security.

“Vladimir Putin’s barbaric invasion of Ukraine showed that Wester countries have been too dependent on dictators, like Putin, and their oil and gas supply. Everyday we reduce our oil and gas consumption we not only contribute to the environment but, when we generate more energy in here in the UK, but we make ourselves more secure.” – Rt Hon Graham Stuart, Minister of State for Energy Security and Net Zero.
