TotalEnergies has inaugurated its largest solar power installation in Europe – a 263MW cluster of five solar farms located in Guillena, near Seville, Spain.

The project is expected to generate 515GWh of electricity annually, enough to power over 150,000 Spanish households.

The installation comprises approximately 400,000 bifacial solar panels with trackers. Declared of Strategic Interest by the regional government of Andalusia, the development involved 14 companies – more than half based in Seville – and created around 800 jobs.

Most of the electricity will be sold through long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs), with the remainder traded on the wholesale market.

“We are very grateful to the Spanish authorities at the regional and national levels for their support for this solar project which contributes to Spain’s ambition to reach 80% renewable energy in its mix by 2030,” said Olivier Jouny, Senior Vice President, Renewables at TotalEnergies.

“With our 1,700 employees in Spain, we are building a competitive Integrated Power portfolio that combines renewables and flexible gas-fired power plants to deliver clean firm power to our customers,” Jouny added.

“We are proud to be the 4th largest provider of electricity, gas, and related services in Spain, where we have more than 2 million residential and professional customers.”

As of March 2025, TotalEnergies had 28GW of installed gross renewable capacity worldwide and aims to grow this to 35GW by the end of the year.
