Trinasolar and the Institute of Solar Energy at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (IES-UPM) have announced their long-term collaboration agreement. This agreement will serve to further PV research and development using both parties’ expertise.
Aspects targeted by the agreement will include solar panel efficiency, solar tracker resilience and robustness, and improving the management of solar energy.
This is not Trinasolar’s first collaboration with a university – the company’s R&D team is known to work closely with other research hubs and faculties. However, IES-UPM is internationally the oldest active PV research institute, making it a key partner for Trinasolar’s developments.
As part of the agreement, the company will also build a modern training centre at the Spanish university’s campus, providing researchers with up-to-date resources and equipment.
Helena Li, executive president of Trinasolar, said: “Signing this agreement with IES-UPM is a major step forward for Trinasolar’s work with universities in Europe, and it plays a crucial role in Trina’s global collaboration with innovative partners.
“This partnership will enable our R&D team to work closely with European academic talent, maintain our core competence, and provide more localised energy solutions to the European market.”
